Conduct notes for professional performers/ Plus new posting
-WELCOME BACK ALL WILD STREAK TALENT-
_ Okay everyone it's time for a refresher course for some of you on professional conduct. Most of you are extremely professional, follow instructions, show up prepared and ready to work, do your job and are polite and courteous. For you guys I apologize for this note as we are not directing this at you but it's been getting a little upsetting for us lately and especially me (Frankie.)This is my company and I strive to give our clients the highest standard of service and professionalism. We must however depend on all of you as well in order to deliver on that promise. Please read through the following notes as these are some of the problems we are facing.
1) WEBSITE POSTINGS AND REGULAR HOTLINE POSTING. Make sure you read through the website posting thoroughly before you call to be put on the standby list. This past week we had a ton of union people call and put themselves on standby for jobs that were clearly marked NON-UNION. Please read carefully. We were asking for real cowboys and cowgirls and we had people calling who had never ridden a horse in their life?
2) DON'T DEPEND ON YOUR FRIENDS TO TELL YOU WHAT IS ON THERE. IF YOU DON'T HAVE WEB ACCESS USE THE REGULAR HOTLINE NUMBER 252-4695 (IF YOU ARE REGISTERED)It's obvious when you haven't read it yourself as you have no idea what is going on.
3)I PERSONALLY PAY FOR THE FINAL CALL TIME NUMBER TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN BOOKED TO GET YOUR CALL TIMES. We tell each and everyone of you a million times to never call that number ever until you are booked and ONLY during the hours we have asked you to. Unless you have made special arrangements with us to call later. THAT IS YOUR BOOKING HOTLINE. Which means you should be sitting down with pen and paper ready to write everything down. WE ASK YOU TO ONLY CALL ONE TIME, WE ASK YOU TO CALL US BACK AND CONFIRM THAT YOU GOT THAT INFO. On the last call at 9PM at night 25% of the people booked still had not followed instructions so I had to chase those people around. Many of you told me that you called the number several times. NO, NO, NO. If I can't trust you to follow simple instructions we have a hard time submitting you for principle gigs. Again this note is not directed to those of you who are professional. This is a job guys, not a joke. A few of you even laughed when I said you had cost the agency additional funds by not following instructions. It gets very frustrating for us.
- We rotate our SAG talent pool and make every effort to book every SAG person at least a day on projects. Everyone of you has a different look and you are not going to be right for every booking. Remember if I book you even if your not right, they don't hire us again or come back to Las Vegas which hurts all of us. If some of you have been watching the show "Starlet" it gives you an idea of how tough this business is. Make sure you do look your best. If you just got a 4 day SAG booking don't call the agency and complain that someone got a one day booking on another show and you didn't. WE TRY TO ROTATE TALENT, PLUS CONSTANT COMPLAINING IS NOT PROFESSIONAL. Make sure you SAG dues are paid up. We are supposed to book union members who are current paid up members.
- WARDROBE CHANGES - When we ask you to bring changes that means complete changes top and bottoms.
- People double booking themselves on jobs and then asking to leave early.
FINAL NOTE BEFORE THE NEW POSTING. FOR THOSE OF YOU SERIOUSLY PURSUING AN ACTING CAREER YOU NEED TO SHINE BRIGHTER THAN THE NEXT STAR AND I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW FAR PROFESSIONALISM WILL TAKE YOU. I DON'T CARE HOW TALENTED YOU ARE IF YOU CAN'T BE DEPENDED ON OR DON'T FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS PEOPLE MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PERSON. THE FOLLOWING EXCERPT IS FROM THE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD BOOK. Item # 26
"REMINDER OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT FOR PROFESSIONAL PERFORMERS"
2)Make sure you arrive on set on time, with required outfits and/or props. Production companies have the right to dismiss without payment any performer who is not on time. It is better to arrive early than to report late.
3) Be courteous and attentive.
6) Never leave the set without getting approval from the assistant director.
8) The professional performer is always prepared to take down the reporting location, date and time of a call, as well as the required wardrobe.
9) Once you are hired, you have been hired until released by the production company. In short, DO NOT ASK TO LEAVE EARLY AND DO NOT LEAVE EARLY.
There were 10 total but these were the ones we really wanted to stress.
